Anyone done this? Anyone got pictures of this?
Anyone know what parts i need?

It seems that nobody knows exactly what 996 parts and what 993 parts will fit, and whether i need anything from my OPC or from recaro or from somewhere else.

Eeek! Someone please help me befoe i lose my mind (before?).

Derestrictor has these...

I believe Southbound sorted him out.

You need to modify the mounts/runners from memory.

Actually, Tech9 fitted mine. You could certainly give old Phil Hindley or his man Alan a ring but I'm also quite sure Horatio Belton of 9M infamy will do this for you.

It is the best upgrade any 993 owner can make and should be followed by ditching the school bus tilling device, reputedly used in pointing the car, for something smaller and wieldier from, ooh, say TechArt?

Pete,

What are you doing bidding on one comfort seat out of a smashed GT2?

Explain yourself to the forum!

Well, see, it's like this:
I was gonna buy a pair off ebay last week (or steal them out of your car Rob) and found out i was bidding against a fellow PH'er so i made a deal with him.
He has a GT3 (comfort) and one seat, and i have a 993 and wanted either one or a pair, but one would do. He really wanted a pair.
So we agreed that he would buy the pair and i would not bid against him, and in return he'd do me a good deal on his single. I should be picking the single up tonight from milton keynes.

Then that other single seat came up, and if it goes for silly cheap money then i'll have it, and then i'll have the pair (but to be honest i'm very happy with just the one).

Now all i need to do is figure out how to fit the damn things...

DeR - what's involved in putting a decent wheel on the 993? Don't fancy removing an airbagged wheel myself given that it's effectively got a shotgun cartridge in it

Are there MOT / insurance implications when putting a non-airbagged wheel on a car originally built with airbags?

The gt3 seats will go in with just the slightest modification to the runner. One hacksaw and a hammer will have them in in around half an hour.

I did a post somewhere.

The Techart wheel is bagged up, man. As they say in Manchester.

DeR got his man Hindley to do it. Far more sensible to risk one of Tech 9's serfs when playing with pyrotechnics.

FYI - if anyone wants to do this, it's EASY.

Standard 996 runners with standard 996 side mounts and GT3 seats.

Only problem was the seatbelt mount on the tunnel side, which i had to fabricate by using an M12 coach bolt (domed head) which i cut down to about 60mm with the dremel, then used a spring washer and nut to attach it to the side mount before attaching the side mount to the seat. Then a flat washer, the harness strap, another washer, the standard seat belt receiver, another washer, and then a nut to finish it off. The nut rubs the carpet when you move the seat backwards and forwards but that's unavoidable anyway from what i gather.

As for bolting the runners into the car, that was easy too, used four of the standard bolts i took out wheni removed the standard seat. All it means is that the runners are slightly further forward that they would be otherwise (i mean an inch or so). If you are very tall this may or may not be a problem, but i am not...

Any questions? I'll post pics if anyone wants them.

Oh, verdict? GT3 seats are the best thing since someone said "You know this new 993? I reckon we should put a couple of little turbos in there and see what happens...."
