Just having a nose around my recently purchased B7 Avant and discovered maybe 5" of water sloshing around the battery under the scuttle cover.

A bit of internet trawling reveals this is quite common so I pulled the battery (stupidly long Allen key a useful tool for this), removed the tray and found the offending drain plugged solid.

All clear now but wonder if any other B6/B7 drain spots I should be checking?

Really common issue, affects old Passats and the Exeo too.

There's 2 that block up, one under the battery and another further along, under the brake booster.
I've removed both completely, had no issues since doing so (3 or so years ago).

Ah ok, by booster you mean the servo? I'll have a look in the daylight tomorrow but does mean pulling the servo out to get to it?

Thanks in advance.

The big round thing! Wasn’t sure what it was called.

No need to remove it, you should be able to get your hand underneath it to find the plug.
