Hi everyone,

Looking for a bit of advice. I test drove a Citroën C3 Pluriel today, I feel as if I had to lift my foot quite high to reach the biting point, which I know can suggest the clutch is tired and is on its way out. But, the car itself didn't feel as if the clutch was on its way out, I've just sold on a Peugeot 206 and the clutch went on that last year, I had to FIGHT to get that car to speed up, it also wouldn't slip into reverse easily, it was hard to change gears at times, but there was none of that with todays car. Gear change was fine too - very smooth, but again that could just be me being used to an older car.

The car is currently at 57,000 miles

I'm booking it in for a free check with Halfords just incase.

Any advice?

We have a Pluriel and from what I understand premature clutch wear is an issue with the C3. The car I bought had a replacement clutch at 26k by the previous owner; I spent quite a bit of time on the C3 forums (primarily investigating roof issues) and found that this was not uncommon. Be careful with Halfords, and don't get sucked into unnecessary work by them if you buy the car. Find a decent independent.

You really need to check that the roof operates properly because it isn't cheap to fix, and the reason you see so many Pluriels in the scrap yard is that a single repair can render the car uneconomical to repair. The car I purchased had an operating roof when I bought it but soon developed issues; leaking rear hatch (quite a common fault caused by the sealant they use on the rear plastic trim - requires removal and the application non-setting sealant); the wiring loom that passes through the rear hatch breaks over time and requires to be rewired; the hinge for the rear hatch snapped (common fault) and required replacement. The roof is currently faulty (thankfully in the closed position) and I'm debating whether to sell as is rather the repair. I am quite handy and have been able to fix it to date, but if you aren't I would give it serious thought. If you do buy it and run into problems with the roof let me know and I will try and help with advice as I know now more than I ever wanted to re Pluriel roofs!

When it works it's a great car on a nice day....
