Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice on a new car. I'm 20 will have been driving 2 years in march but had an incident last year where I slightly scuffed a car in a car park but they claimed against me anyway even when i offered to pay so that isn't in my favour.

I'm currently driving a 1.0 pos 2003 vauxhall corsa and looking for suggestions on what to get next. Looking for something with a bit more poke than what ive got but is also not too harsh on the insurance. Got a budget of about 5k for the car so that should get me something decent i would hope Looking for some suggestions!

R56 Mini Cooper? £5k should get you a decent 2009-2011 one. Lovely fun car to drive and nippy too. I had one for years and I'd have another tomorrow. Not sure about insurance (I was late 20's when I had mine and I paid about £400).

If you value having fun when driving then the Swift Sport is 100% worth the money. They are not fast although will obviously feel a bit quicker than your Corsa.

Has your insurance renewal come up since the car park scrape?

In which case you might end up with a significant increase at renewal time even if you keep the same car. A faster car could push that up even further.

I suggest wait to see what your renewal will be before changing car, or try entering your details into a comparison site with one (at fault?) claim to see what quotes come back.

Been looking on comparison sites recently with the claim declared so im expecting to pay around £1500 something like that which sucks but dont think i will get much cheaper than that
