Basically im an electrical contractor, and have just taken on an employee.
He is recently qualified, so not as experienced as myself.

For priced work, I just allow the same as my own rate which easily covers the cost with a bit left over smile

However I have a couple of commercial customers who I have a "blank cheque" arrangement with, ie I just send a bill when work is complete.

I have been charging myself at £250+vat a day which the customer is happy with. However I feel I may be taking the piss a bit charging the same again for my employee?

I pay him £15/hour, so around £120/Day + NI etc.

So the question is what is the standard uplift in charging a employee out to a customer? Im thinking around £200+vat?

something ive never been involved in before!

Your not a hairdresser or a partner in law or accountancy - you do a set job to result in a set end result regardless of who does it.
Assuming he won’t mess it up and is as fast as you then same rate.
If he is slower you alter to the days on the job it would take you.
