So I made a post a few weeks back, having been able to put off buying a new car as I used the missus and then we went away on holiday, some of the stuff I thought I like I actually thought about it and I don't.

I've always liked the shape and looks of the E60, I do a fair amount of mileage, 20k since January last year.
a lot of the examples I've seen have 150k plus miles which doesn't bother me too much but given that most of the cars i'm seeing are 10+ years old am I just looking at a money pit.

I do love the idea of a 530d m sport touring, budget is max £3.5k

If you're looking at 150k cars you'll want to see receipts for a suspension refresh as a bare minimum plus lots of receipts for new injector seals etc, with a 3.5k budget I'd be spreading my search to buying the best car with low miles comfortable reliable & a good amount of go.

If you're looking for the above here's where I'd be looking, all the cars below have less than 80k on the clock which gives you the opportunity to run a car for a good few years when you're doing 20k a year:

From my experience, the W203 has aged really badly and will feel like a saggy old heap of junk. I drove one when they were brand new and loved it so once they got to 10 years old I thought I would get one.

I could not believe how different it felt after ten years, I have honestly driven ten year old Peugeots that felt tighter.

It depends on how the car you're looking at has been treated I've found good and bad cars on pretty much every make when it comes to used cars I've sourced lots of well looked after W203/4/5's & 508's but I've also seen some shockers the simple answer is to judge the car your looking at.
