Morning all,

On the hunt for a new car at the moment.

Will be my only car and used for commuting. 2 seats, and preferably RWD.

So far it's a E85 BMW Z4 2.5 or 3.0
or
Nissan 350z.

Being a daily I'm leaning towards the Z4 as it's slightly less thirsty, although I know the Z4s aren't an amazing drive.

I've always had small little go-karts, Smart Roadster, MR2, MGTF, MX5 etc, so looking for something better screwed together and a slightly nicer place to be.

Am I missing any more obvious choices?

I keep thinking about getting a Z4 as a weekend car and if anything I would say prices are now rising. Plus trying to find a 3.0 or 2.5 is getting harder and harder, as most cars for sale under £5k seem to be the 2.0

Kind of wish I had just bitten the bullet and bought one a year ago as decent 3.0 cars seem to be very thin on the ground and sell for quite a premium over the others.

Is there much choice of 350z's at this money? I've seen a few with rust on them, not sure if it's an issue or not.

You might find a Crossfire SRT-6 for this sort of money. Maybe not the sharpest tool, but better than a lot of internet lore sometimes suggests. The SRT-6 is pretty rapid too and certainly a fairly nice place to be daily.

My pick would be the 350Z fuel wise there's only 4mpg between the 3.0i & the 350Z so fuel wise it's not really a reason not to pick one but if it is a problem maybe the 25i may be the way to go.

Also there's the Mercedes SLK which is often overlooked but a decent steer & a good daily.
