As i ride all year round i have a few things coming off my battery - heated jacket outlet, heated grips and cig lighter (for pump if i ever need it). On the Africa Twin it has a tight battery housing so it is now jam packed in there with things wired directly to the battery

I just saw someone on Facebook say they are going to use a Wiska housing for connectors and just run some flex off of it to the battery for positive and negative...similar to this https://www.fastlec.co.uk/sboxterm-wiska-push-in-l... - is there any reason why i cannot do this?

I have been looking for an accessories wiring box but everything i find is a stupid price for what is essentially a wiska box.

Looks a bit industrial. What extras do you want to power up? Apart from those already mentioned.

That's it, but may add a heated jacket for my wife. At the moment it is not an option as the battery housing is rammed. I am function over form the bike gets nailed, it can go under the seat anyway.

I've got a multi-way fuse box under the seat on my ZZR1400 with separately fused connections for the heated grips, phone charger and heated clothing. No reason you couldn't use on of these boxes, although I would inline fuse each connection coming out of it personally.

I've not used one of these but have had it recommended to me by a couple of different people.

Do you want switched live or permanent,
The wiska blocks would be permanent?
I'm planning on putting in a switched live relay on mine because the provided switched circuit is only 2amps.
That fuzebox looks nice but should be for £75.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't already a factory connector for the heated grips. I would use that. Honda heated grips seem to be worth the premium too, at least the ones I have tried. There's probably a sat nav power cable too.

Fit a powerlet socket for the heated clothing / charging / pump and you're done.

That fuzeblock looks like a nice solution, I've seen a couple of similar products:

Denali Power Hub 2
https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/...

PDM60
https://www.nippynormans.com/f650st-f650cs-f650gs-...

Whilst I can see the appeal of something like the PDM60, I was cheap and just went for a fusebox and external relay...

Eastern Beaver do Africa twin specific accessory units that plug into the mutiplug that is under the rear seat..

https://easternbeaver.com/Main/Bike_Specific/Honda...

I used the 3 way option and it has worked well, it arrived in less than a week and is well made, I have 1 permanent and 2 switched live set up .. they do one with more connections ..

I had them before, they are not worth the money IMO. Then they broke

Sorry, I should of said all of the accessories have in line fuses.

Sure, the factory loom connector for the grips is still there though?

I don't have a picture but I wired a separate accessories box under the rear seat unit on my Africa twin.

Ran two cables direct from battery into a small ebay fuse board. This I enclosed in a small Tupperware box. I used a soldering iron to make holes for the cables then a dab of silicon to make watertight. I then just ran a decent high quality cable under the bike body work to the front. There's an ignition switched live under in the same seat, I used this with a relay under the seat to power up accessories. No splicing = no warranty issues.

There's some pictures I put up somewhere. Probably on the Africa Twin thread.

Cost about £20, now done about 4,000 miles with it and no issues. You could fix it by the roadside anyway.

ETA: Picture added as it was annoying me I couldn't find it... In the end I tidied it up and used lever clips for the negative terminal (IIRC- i'd need to check).

There is an OEM accessory plug at the front that is used to run the OEM grips and power socket .. I bought the plug and made a loom that I run my usb socket and sat nav from .. it is inside the instrument unit .. you need to remove the front fairings and screen to get to it ..

This shows where it is and how to get to it if you fancy it ..

The other switched live plug in under the rear seat section tapped to the frame on the side stand side ..

What about a DIY relay and distribution block setup. There's one documented very well here: http://www.canyonchasers.net/shop/generic/relay.ph...

Looks handy - where did you get the loom from?

Thanks

If you check the eastern beaver site for the Africa Twin, he has made the same loom for the front that Honda sell, he also sells the plug connectors separately , which I bought when I ordered the connector block thing .. I got some extra connectors, the ones used for the front aux accessory connector and made up a loom .. You can get the same ones on ebay .. You can see which connectors are which on his site under .. Power Splitter for Front Fairing Power Connector ..

Looking at that video the "dummy" plug just looks like the standard one with some slightly different weather seals.

If you could find what pin size to use you could make up the sub-loom to connect to that.

Have a look at the usual wiring sites:
http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/
https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/
https://www.autosparks.co.uk/electrical-components...

Edit: Never mind! £6 for the proper one with pins/seals etc from this site seems like a good buy.
