Onkyo Amp and UHD player problem
Discussion
When all was first connected the TV flickered and would not display in 4k format. It produced sound though. It would display in 1080p no problem. When connected direct, no through the amp, it would display a 4k picture no problem. This pointed to an issue with the amp.
After much googling and enabling of the HDMI connection for 4k etc. A full shut down and restart of the TV, Amp and V6 managed to get a 4k picture in place along with dolby Atmos when viewing BT Sport UHD. There didn't seem to be any one fix that sorted it, almost a fluke.
I now have the same problem when trying to view the UHD player, no picture.
The HDMI port on the TV is the ARC connection, which is 4k enabled and displays the v6 box in 4k.
If the DVD player is connected straight to the TV, not through the amp, it works fine. The amp interface is the issue but I'm lost as to how to resolve !
Also tonight the TV displayed no picture when switching on to view the V6 box, just sound. A switch off of all devices and restart brought it back. I'm wondering if there is a handshake issue in the set up.

The Onkyo model is HTS5805. Not sure how you update the firmware as it's not connected to the internet ?
I purchased new HDMI high speed cables (realmax £3.99 from amazon for 1m) for this set up and have swapped between the virgin issued cable for the V6 and these with no issue. So hopefully I've ruled out the cable

Just had a look at the model and I don't see a internet connection as mentioned
If it works directly then it points to the receiver and the handshake between it and the UHD player, not sure where to go from here myself aside tryhing different port on receiver....same one as v+ with nothing else connected and see if that works but given the standalone nature of the system beyond this it could be challenging to figure out the issue

I've had a quiick look at your Realmax cables on Amazon and they're HDMI 1.4 cables which may not have the bandwidth for "full fat" 4k.Try buying a cable that says it carries 18gb - The Pixelgen ones are pretty good - don't buy them on Amazon, they're overpriced there - i found them cheaper on Keane's website and also Projectorpoint.
If you don't want to buy more cables, you could try turning the bit depth down on the player (If it's at 4:4:4 12 bit) to a lower setting or turn it to 10 bit.
