Another indecisive bloke - Help!
Discussion
Hi all,
This is my first forum submission so please bear with me. I've had a read through the rules but if there's anything that needs to be adjusted please let me know.
I've recently got a new job and whilst i can get public transport, a car would be far more easier and cost effective. My budget is around 13k and I've been looking at a number for cars, but what i'm looking for is:
- a hatchback or estate
- automatic
- reliable automatic gearbox
- 1.2 or above (as where i'll be working is quite hilly and maybe the odd A-road here and there if required)
- 16 reg or above
My problem is that i'm indecisive as it is, and with so many manufacturers out there it's hard to choose. I was looking at either of the below recently:
Toyota Yaris Hybrid/Petrol 1.5 Icon Tech 5-Door
Ford Fiesta 1.2 automatic 5-Door
Can anyone else recommend a decent runner that's not too expensive to maintain? I've been looking at Autotrader and Dealers, but what attracts me to dealers is the warranty that's thrown in with used cars.
Cheers,
Tom

How many miles do you do a year?
Is a Yaris/Fiesta the size you want or what about a Focus/Golf?
Few suggestions below.
Auris Still warranty left (think they have 5 years)

I'm leaning towards a Ford Fiesta but a lot of the automatics i'm coming across are 1.0, which is a slight put-off. I've heard that Powershift isn't great however, the more recent models with automatic transmissions are far more reliable and contain an 1.0 EcoBoost engine, but i'm not sure how well they do on motorways?
Although i'm predominantly using this car as an A to B runner, i might go on the motorway on the odd occasion...

Don't get yourself stuck on engine size. The 1.0 is a turbocharged engine with lots of pull, whereas I believe the 1.2 of naturally aspirated. You'll find the 1.0 a more potent and powerful engine. I drove one in Portugal as a hire car and it was no problem on the motorways.

Have a drive and see what you think.Although i'm predominantly using this car as an A to B runner, i might go on the motorway on the odd occasion...
Not driven one but they are meant to be a decent engine and all early issues sorted.

Remember if the cars have full history you should be able to extend the Manufacturer's Warranty on a 2016 car or maybe have some leftover depending on the reg date.
