Has anyone seen one of these in the flesh yet? My local Honda dealership is saying they will be in by the end of Feb but I'm aware other dealerships may have already taken delivery.

As a side note, I'm doing my DAS in April and love the look of the bike. I'm hoping to test ride it once I've passed with the view of buying one if I like it - not really sure what there will be not to like!

If anyone has taken a test ride, post your thoughts here smile

No input but didn't know these existed, looks like a nice bit of kit, hope the insurance doesn't scupper your plans..

Yeah they're a nice looking bike.

Insurance is coming back equal to, if not less than the 125cc I have now. No idea how they figure that one....

It was on GoCompare. Although if i'm right in thinking it's in some dealerships then it makes sense you could get a quote for one. Also, it would make sense that a manufacturer makes insurers aware of a new release so potential buyers can get quotes like I have.

Don't think any dealers have them yet only some press launch bikes and the show bikes have been seen so far .
looks a good improvement on what was already a popular bike.

Nice looking bike! I had a CBR6000F not long after passing my test, years ago. I loved that bike.

I suggest you ring BeMoto for insurance, I went through most of the comparison sites and some insurance companies online for a quote but BeMoto managed to beat them all and included legal and lower excess, with Liverpool Victoria as well, may be worth a punt for the sake of a call.

I quite liked them being called F to differentiate it from the RR. Suppose they are just aligning the name with the likes of the CBR500R. Does suggest there is no intention of resurrecting the 600 super sports category.

The 650 engine is from the CB650F/CBR650F. I believe much of the chassis/running gear is also identical, although it appears to have USD forks & nicer instruments. If you like middle weight inline fours, the engine is excellent & very reliable. I think its only a couple of hundred quid more than than the F, so pretty good value too.

I test rode one at the weekend. Newest vehicle I’d ever driven with only 10 miles on the clock.

I thought it was really good. I haven’t got much riding experience, I’ve only had my license since September and have had an SV650 since then. As is typical with a 4 cylinder to get the best out of it you really have to ring its neck. They make around 94hp I think but that’s from like 8k rpm upwards, it does have enough shove low in the revs to cruise around town in 6th though. Handling is good and it feels very stable. It’s a small bike though, I’m 6foot tall but all body and even I was flat footed and bent legged while sitting on it.

I wasn’t in the market for a new bike, but I’m definitely tempted. But I would prefer in the red/white livery!

Handsome machine - I agree that the red/white scheme is by far the best...

How does it sound?

Okay in general. There’s a nice throaty induction note lower down in the revs, then up the revs it does sing but it’s heavily muffled at high revs. It’s not so much exhaust note as just the engine buzzing.

Oddly it makes its best sound at idle on the Cold start IMO. The dealer did say they could fit an Akrapovic full system (he said something about the standard exhaust being one piece, so they couldn’t just fit a slip on) if I bought it. Retail price £1149.99.

Thanks for the insight! It's nice to know it's good to ride. What was it like on your wrists?

They have them at my local dealership now and I'd agree on size. I'm 5'10" and I can flat foot it - my brother-in-law who is 6'4" looked a bit ridiculous on it. Bit of a weird one but the Honda dealership have said I can test ride it but it will have to be accompanied. This seems strange, especially as other local dealerships have said they'll let me loose as soon as I've passed the test.

I'll book a test ride when the test is out the way. Only issue is Yamaha have a cracking deal on the MT-07 up here and I'm really tempted to buy it now before the deal ends!

It’s definitely less ‘wristy’ than my SV. The clip one may be below the top yoke now but they still have quite a high rise on them.

I had a test from Ecosse in Aberdeen, we were accompanied but only because my mate was out on an MT07, didn’t know the area and had requested a salesman to show him a good road to go on. Plenty people were coming and going unaccompanied.

Don’t worry about having someone with you, the guy with us was quite happy for us to ‘explore’ all the bike had to give!
