Just got back into collecting vinyl.
These are my recent acquisitions.
They are so beautiful.

Personally not into the coloured vinyl at all, although yours do look snazy!!

Recently scored a copy of Cleo Randle - Big City Lights - been after it for about 5 years!!

I'm sure I have more but these were the easy ones to get out. Mix of plain colour, transparent colour and marbled.

Surely this is only true if you're Kafka or Dr Ian Malcolm.

The irony of pic discs is that while they look great, they played rubbish due to the waffer-thin layer of vinyl either side of the cardboard printed insert. This was in the days when records weren't all waffer-thin anyway. I stopped buying vinyl when it was about seven quid for a single album and over a tenner for a double, but they'd be jumping and scratchy within a week no matter how carefully you handled them. The upside of this is that all my albums are now pretty old and valuable. Not that I'm ever likely to sell them. They just don't include many pic discs not because black is best or because they were more expensive, just cos they played like crap

You’re correct, picture disks are a bit rubbish, due to how they are made, but coloured vinyl is made the same way as black vinyl and they still sound great. With the added bonus that they look great.

My mother used to own a grocer's shop, and a guy used to come in with records for her to sell, and i remember he always had a huge proportion of coloured vinyl. At one point we had loads of them, the time come for her to sell the shop and she threw them all out!!
But, i just managed to snaffle a couple that always drew my attention, a picture disc version of Abbey road with a circle cut out the front, the cover pic continued over the disc, and another odd one was a rectangular brown disc with a yorkie bar like cover??
Wish i had kept more of them, i was just too young to think more about it. He had some 'weird' stuff!

My brother got this pink Cool for cats single when I was about 6. I was amazed. All I had at the time was an old gramophone and a huge pile of 78's that no one wanted... all black. Seeing a pink record was unbelieveable back then at least for me and stays with me to this day.

I've still got Green Jelly, 3 Little Pigs on pink vinyl

I think it was (the long gone) Parrot Records in Romford that used to have tons of coloured/picture vinyl hanging from the ceiling? I've had a few in my time including Eloise by The Damned, a couple of Queen singles, and a couple of pink Pink Floyd releases. All still stored away somewhere. The shaped picture discs used to warp horribly.

I've got a few but I don't go out purposely to buy coloured vinyl. The standouts I suppose are Empire of the Sun (the band) LP in translucent vinyl and Quadrophenia in Parka Green vinyl. There are others - oh yeah, an Amy Winehouse bootleg from straight after she passed in pink.

This one seemed a bit cheerful for the content (Stranglers, Wall of Voodoo, Lords of the New Church). The front cut-outs got a bit ripped, sadly.

I don't know how many coloured vinyl LPs I have left? - I know I sold most of my picture ones (awful).

One coloured that got played a lot was a nice thing at the time, 40 yrs ago - still is - Peter Green 'In The Skies' with the vinyl obviously 'green'.
Still got that.

One guy commented on discogs.com website a couple years back that he thought it was the best sounding coloured vinyl he'd ever listened to.

• Iron Maiden "Can I Play with Madness" now being used as a clock back ground

Sound of the Suburbs by The Members on clear vinyl was one of my faves as a kid.

I think King Rocker by Generation X on orange may have been my first.

First picture disc in 1979 was Are Friends Electric?
