Hi,

I'm considering a Cayman S through an OPC.

It's a 2010 car, MY 2011, done 29.5K miles.

From the service book, it had one interim service at 12.3K miles, and has just had its first major service on trade in at the current mileage.

I actually can't find maintenance schedule for a MY 2011 987, but the earlier cars are oil change annually, or 10K miles (15K kilometres). I've read that the service interval was extended to 20K miles (think they mean kilometres?) in later models, but I can't find evidence of this.

At best, the service was done based on miles, rather than annually (or even biennially) and the previous oil change was 17K mile ago.

That said, it's been accepted by an OPC as an Approved car.

Is that actual interval with acceptable limits (even if not advised), or should I walk?

Cheers,
Snips

The 987.2 was every 2 years or 20k miles.

Therefore it should really have 4 stamps in the book by now.

I guess it depends on how special the car is, but there are plenty out there so I’d probably walk away personally.

I don’t think it would be a problem in mechanical terms, but might make life more difficult than it needs to be when you come to sell.

Don’t see it being an issue. I just purchased an Oct 2010 987.2 with 7100 miles on the clock

Only had one service at 4K miles but the car was 4 years old! Major service done just before I purchased at 7k miles with new tyres as old ones were perished.

The car at best managed 1k per year miles so although oil deteriorates, if it’s been sitting in a garage I can’t see too much happening.

Currently running it in and will get oil changed again at 10k miles as the thing had never been past 4K revs. I’d say you be okay as it’s really low miles hence why service seems sporadic.

@Paul_M3 @jayxx83 Thanks for the replies, appreciate your opinions.

I went for a test drive, and in the end decided it felt a bit neglected in more than just servicing: cosmetically and tyres too, so passed on this one.

Cheers,
