987 Aftermarket Seats
Discussion
Hi All
After some info from anyone who has fitted bucket seats or alike in their 987. I'm 6ft 6 and almost fit in a cayman with the standard seats but want to know how much extra room you can gain from installing aftermarket seats and mounts etc.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Anyone in East Anglia who's willing to let me sit in theirs?
Thanks in advance
James

Is this for a road or track car?
Tillett seats will do a seat and mount that will get you in an acceptable position. It may not be perfect as there is limited space but you're 4 inches taller than me and there is about 4 inches that can be gained with the right seat and I'm assuming not all of that extra height is in your legs! I had an ok position but would have liked a bit more room. The Tilletts are very comfortable and supportive even though they have little to no padding but personally I'd be happier with them in a track car than one used exclusively on the road.

I'm as near as dammit 6'4", and I have a good couple or three inches of headroom, and a fair bit of room for my legs - but that is after I put in a spacer to bring the steering wheel closer (and out of the way of my legs, which is the chief concern with tall people and Caymans). That would be the cheaper option if it would work for you.
Unfortunately I'm in London, so I can't let you see what it's like.
edit: I also tried on my helmet in the car last night and there is room. Not much room to lean to the right, but there is plenty of room straight up.
