Who is running a high mileage Porsche?
Discussion
I did 107,000 in a 996 turbo (technically it was on 65,000 when I bought it). It was a good car and never broke down, I had a few big bill that were age related such as rads/condensors, one turbo, water pump and all 4 discs and pads. I reckon over the 4 years I had it, it cost less to run than my wife's focus st (factoring in desperation on my car). I had to sell due to pressure from the Mrs to get a more useful family car, so I part-exed it against an e92 m3 but wish I still had the Porsche.
Recently sold my 944 after 214,000 miles, bought at 180,000 miles. Got my money back on what was probably the cheapest car I have ever owned.
1987 911 is at about 115,000.
Boxster is barely run in at 49,000 which I don’t consider high mileage.
Our everyday cars have gone to at least 120,000 before being changed. In the fact I think the Golf GTi we swapped for our current car was at the lowest for a long time at 115,000 when it went. The new one was only 18 months old when we got it so it will be a while before it catches up
salesman thought we were mad when I said I would see him in 10 years

157k miles 997.1 GT3 Clubsport. Original engine and box. Engine has about 1% leakdown on each cylinder. Some valve guide wear. 1 clutch. Unsure about how much suspension refreshing has happened. The LSD doesn't do much limiting any more. Running KW clubsports atm, but going back to the original PASM dampers after a damper service.

I’ve taken my 986S from 28000 to 181000 miles. Engine was replaced at 71k due to IMS failure. It’s also had gearbox rebuilt, most suspension parts replaced, new radiators, new coil packs, alternator, water pump, flywheel, two clutches, 5 hoods (don’t ask!) + lots of minor items. So it’s also a Trigger’s Broom like Nick’s GT3 - Nick I think you were the first person to describe it as such.
When the car had done 100k in my care I worked out the cost of servicing and repairs at 30p per mile, which was a shock. I won’t do that again.
