Another Yellowbird
Discussion
I just saw this link on fchat, how many yellowbirds were made? <a href="www.dallasimports.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=18155">www.dallasimports.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=18155</a>
I also came accross this <a href="www.gtrsportscars.com/Ruf.htm">www.gtrsportscars.com/Ruf.htm</a> the other day, what are your thoughts on it? A friends cousin had one of these when the 993TT first came out & I fell in love with it

i think that ruf made 28 original CTRs back in the day (adamT will say if i am wrong tomoro im sure!). (they are also making one more at the moment for a special customer i think).
they also converted about the same number from porsche to RUF CTR spec.
absolutely amazing car and it is so easy to fall in love with. if you want more pics then there are quite a few in the Vmax page from a number of Vmax events. plus there is my video on the pistonheads.tv page.
with regards to the other car. i would say that it is worht seriously looking into. in my opinion a very nice shape and the ruf mods make for a nice package.

Spot on mate,
Badapple, yes chris has been with me at every vmax i have attended with camera in hand.
The 993 turbo is a great car, and for 38k pounds an absolute steal imho, i wonder why it hasnt been snapped up yet as i think it has been for sale for quite a while.
all the best
adam
yeah, i really love Vmax. (but adam i thought that you had been to one more than me?! i went to Vmax 4 5 and 7 i think. didnt you go to one more?)
adam have you posted any other vids from Vmax 7 on here? cos i have a simple vid which is just a collection of most of my good footage from the day. should i put that up aswell?
badapple.
i am really bad at putting names to faces, and i talked to quite a lot of people at the last one. could you possibly remind me either when/ where we talked or something like that. cos i feel that i should make more of an effort to remember people from these things.
cant wait for the next one.

Hi guys,
I was looking at the green ruf'd 993tt a couple of months ago - my biggest problems were:
1. getting hold of the guy, as he floats between London and Spain
2. getting an insurance company to quote me (under 30) on a 520ps 993tt (which is about 505bhp right?) hahahahahahahahah
This is my daily driver remember - if i can't get insured on it, i'm stuck.
if one of you lot is over 40 and fancies this as a toy let me know and i'll come with and check it over for you if you like.

Wish I could justify 38K ... looks great
Edited to say: If only it were yellow ... the budget could just go hang ...
Edited further to say: that price does not make sense to me: how can a standard tt with 77,500 km be 36K and that RUF'd one with 55,000 km be just 2K more?
Even though the standard one is yellow.

Good luck, i mailed him about the silver one and the green one and the yellow one at the beginning of April and got a response last week about the silver one still being for sale...
Er, yes, following our mail exchange I had my tongue fairly firmly in cheek when I said "soon" ... btw did he mention the green one in his reply?

No, sorry. But as i said, if you want some company to go look at it i'll come along and bring my fine-toothed comb.
Well, IF anything comes of it, which I doubt, then yes please.
I can't believe I'm even considering it ... my budget started at 20K ...
Edited to add: on another note, how about this for something rather odd: http://tinyurl.com/cbho8

Seen it - been for sale for a few months.
First thing i found odd was the wiper pivots - they are too far apart for a 993.
Then i saw the first registration date, mid 92. It's obviously a 964 shell that has been updated, which probably means it's got 964 suspension rather than the kinematic toe-in multi-link set up on the 993.
It doesn't have any RUF badging or even a RUF steering wheel!
And is it 2wd or 4wd?
Doesn't have turbo brakes either...
Are you a braver man than me?
