Inspecting calipers
Discussion
Hi guys,
Just bought some b7 rs4 8 pot brembo calipers and i was wondering if there is anything to look out for to make sure theyre all good. Also is it worth getting them rebuilt before i put them on? Seen a place that does a rebuild for £250 for the pair which seems reasonable.
Cheers

Godspeed brakes do a rebuild service, I had my Impreza calipers done by them and they came back in pretty much brand new condition.
Depends upon the mileage the car has done, and the life it has had. If all the rubber seals are good, no holes or perishing, the pistons move freely in and out, there's no rust around the bleed nipple and they clean up fairly well, then they should be OK. To be honest though, with second hand calipers it won't hurt to drop them off to a decent mechanic and ask him to have a look over them, and perhaps quote for new seals / pistons if needed.
A set of properly refurb'd calipers should last a long time, probably the lifetime of the car, so £250 / £350 is really no money given the life you'll get out of them, plus the additional peace of mind, it's also a good selling point and while you won't see the money back, it tells any buyer that you are thorough.

Thank you for the advice. I agree its not a huge amount for peace if mind is it. Think ill get them rebuilt regardless of condition Depends upon the mileage the car has done, and the life it has had.
