Rouen Armada 6th-16th June
Discussion
Whilst checking out the Rouen Tourist information website I’ve just come across this event being held in the city.
Rouen Armada is one of the largest free-admission maritime events in the world with over 10 million visitors expected.
Sadly it looks likely We’re going to be subjected to even more traffic congestion in the area whilst on Route to Le Mans this year

If you want to avoid Rouen aim for Caudebec-en-Caux and cross there, if memory serves you come off the autoroute one stop earlier than Rouen and cut towards the sea and come back onto the main road on the south side of the river further down.
Doesn’t add much time at all and less stressful.

Very good tip thank you Doesn’t add much time at all and less stressful.
It shouldn't make that much difference, as said before you can turn off before Rouen and go around that way or , and this is after countless different ways through Rouen, down through the tunnels, over the river and just keep going. You'll pass the bakery academy on your right then stay on that road til it spits you out on the motorway 3 junctions before the services
Just had a quick look and the main big ship day is Sunday when they sail from Rouen to the mouth of the river at Honfleur / Le Havre. Hopefully they'll be long gone by the time the race has finished (for people leaving straight after the race), but might be worth going round Rouen on the East side rather than further West on that day.

Seem to be plenty of options going East of Rouen, thanks for the heads up

We cross the river at Pont de l'Arche to avoid crossing it in Rouen, this also avoids the busier road down the side of the railway goods yard.
However we take the free autoroute south from there towards Evreux and cut cross country to and from Le Mans. If you want to go on the usual main route take a right turn along Pont de l'Arche main street after the bridge to the D321 and join the A13 there to avoid any tolls (opposite for the way back though
