I’m at the TT for practice week this year (can’t make race week, set holidays at work) I was thinking of going to the Manx GP for a few days this year too, is it worth the visit? I’m guessing it’s a lot less hectic than the TT? I’ll be going over with the wife and 4 kids.
Thanks

I haven’t been to the Manx since 2009 but it had a very different, quieter, much more relaxed atmosphere. Greater emphasis on the genuine gentleman racer and celebrating those who had to be able to spanner as well as ride their bikes. We took our lad with us and really enjoyed the week. I don’t know how much it may have changed with the ‘Classic TT’ and allowing TT racers to race at the Manx, but I’d say go for it.

Yea I think I’m going to give it a go. Fly over from Manchester like I am doing for the TT practice.

The Classic is good. Plenty happening on the island. It is quiter than the TT but still busy. After the Classic, the Manx is much quieter. You don't get the knobber element out to prove how quick they are which is a real bonus.

Funny, we were talking about doing a Honda grom ride over there hehe
I’ve come to the conclusion that’s it’s more fun riding slow bike fast as opposed to trying to keep the speed down on my S1000

It's only fun when there are a few with a similar sized bike.

Do you all have full licences ?

You can't ride on a UK provisional over here, each year at least one person gets pulled by the cops for riding on L plates with an English reg!

Think I prefer the Classic TT now, certainly in terms of atmosphere and the bikes, but that's probably because i'm nearly 40 now and the classic is full of the bikes that i grew up watching at the TT.

If you can get here for the weekend then Jurby day is well worth a visit on the Sunday, 1000's bikes in the bike park and all sorts of exotica on track. The classic superbike is on the Monday, RC30's, ZXR750's and a few 2 strokes. last years race was fantastic.

It’s really good and the weather is typically better. More grown up and all the better for it with lots of interesting machinery. More family friendly too, you won’t regret it.

I wouldn't bank on that, the last two years the weather has been appalling for the Classic and the Manx.
Last year there was hardly any practice, due to the weather, rain, fog and it was very, very cold.
Mind you with no action on the course I got to do more fishing!

I used to be an regular TT goer but have switched to the Classic and Manx.
Fewer people, fewer lunatics hurling themselves at the scenery, still a great atmosphere though.
Don't think that the races are slow, go and watch the Classic Superbike at the end of the Cronk-y-voddy, the top guys are not holding back one iota, more than a bit scary the first time you see it.
There can't be many places left where you can see a Grand Prixx 500cc two stroke at full chat, in a proper race!
The other good thing is, with fewer people there you can actually get to some of the more popular vantage points.
