Looking at running a standalone ECU, but wish to retain the factory AC.. Is anyone doing this? What does the standard ECU actually do/change when the air-con is activated? Turns a fan on and anything else?

Cycles the fan (I think it's only the big fan though .. can't remember!) .. and could cut the compressor clutch out at high revs, but doesn't because it's not configured correctly.

I'm not sure atm.. Looking between MBE 9A8 and DTA S80 Pro, if I decide to go with a new ECU..

I have decided I would like the benefits of dual wideband and semi-sequential injection.

9A8 won't do that according to the published spec, you'd need 9A9 for twin widebands.
S80Pro will run 2 lambdas by the looks of it though.

Good luck.

They both do it via standalone wideband controllers..

I'm weighing up my options/costs/benefits with it.. Remapping the standard ECU is the easiest/cheapest option. It's establishing how much benefit you get from the 2 features above..
