Hi all, been a while since I last posted! Have been busy with dashboards and other stuff. I am after a steering column for a Griff - I want to develop a mounting bracket etc to enable me to fit the DCE adjustable power steering kit - www.dcemotorsport.com . I saw them at the Excel Classic Car show last Friday, they have developed a kit that can be fitted to a multitude of classic cars, but it does require the cutting and mounting onto the steering column. The kit is great quality and is fully adjustable and programmable (i.e. assistance up to a set speed then no assistance), all at a very reasonable price.

I would like a steering column to develop the suitable mounting arrangements for the Griffith, and of course when fully developed would be able to make it available! Regards, Pete

How much of the column do you need?
Strange question but I had problems with the column in my Chim (the bearing cages broke up allowing the balls to fall out). I dismantled it to replace the bearings in the head (with the wheel tilt).
Found that these are not replaceable i.e. the races are peened into the alloy housing.
So I bought a replacement column but for some reason I still have a pile of bits left over.

I have some CAD drawings and photos that might help you develop a decent mounting system. I scratch built a similar EPAS system a few years ago for my Griff. I also found a spare pedal box useful.

Good to hear from you.

As you are going to chop the column you can also use a Chimmy column which are slightly longer.

I also bought my EPAS system from DC Electronics and its been brilliant and 100% reliable, I started with a Corsa ECU and was never happy until I finally upgraded to one of DC Electronics speed sensing fully programmable EPAS ECU.

You can see from these threads it was a lot of fun.

Enjoy and I'm sure a few owners would be interested if you create a bolt on kit.

Many thanks for your replies. Steve I did not know your EPAS setup was DCE based, good to hear. I would like to start with a spare column in good working order as I want the option to take my Griff back to standard with the original column. Interesting to hear that the Chim column is the same but slightly longer, which would not matter as I will be cutting it. DNB, many thanks for the offer of CAD files, if you could PM me that would be great. I have some ideas how I want to mount the EPAS unit, but this will not be finalised till I can start working on a column. Best regards, Pete
