For work I am provided with a pair of cheap steel toe capped boots. I walk anywhere between 5-10 miles a day at work and they get somewhat uncomfortable towards the end. I’m happy to purchase my own, wondered what would be recommended at the £70-£80 price range? Cheers.

I always found external toe caps to be more comfortable and a lot warmer!

You don't need to spend that sort of money.
DeWalts are about £35-£40 a pair and comfortable enough. You can get them with composite toe caps they are a lot lighter than steels!

I don’t walk your sorts of distances in them but I’ve always found my Engelbert Strauss‘ to be comfortable.

I spent years walking significant distances in riggers and would swear by Jallatte boots. They're really comfortable and warm and the soles last too. Also had good experience of Redwing boots but they're noticeably heavier.

I used to be in the same situation as you OP and in the end bought Timberlands for construction site work and more recently switched to Gerba as I now work in a clean room environment (pharma).

Another vote for Engelbert Strauss here, been using their work wear including boots/shoes for years, nothing negative to note.

I found the soles collapsed and the toecaps started to dig in to my feet.

I bought a pair of DM's with the AirWair soles, very comfortable boots but I can't wear them at work as they're not S3 rated mad. I then got some Engelbert Strauss (recommended on PH) Alrakis boots which are comfortable, not as comfortable as the DM's but they're good.

Another one for timberlands here. Same here I do a lot of walking and have timberlands. I do a lot of kneeling down etc and still comfy with the steel toecaps.

I wear these from Base. Around £70 from my merchant. Really comfortable and light.

Get composite toe caps. Much lighter and just as strong. I like the V12 range of boots.

Agreed, I've had a pair of these for a few years now. Very light and comfortable for all day wear.

Usually wear the boots in the winter or wet and these the rest of the time. https://v12footwear.com/product/pitstop-vs400/ I'm sure I got them in Toolstation.

Thirded - I have these and they are very comfy - and the lacing knob thing makes doing them up very easy:

I've used Bluelight bata intervention for my second job, cost me £40. Had two pairs. Very comfy. Currently my back up pair in my locker.

Going to be one of those annoying people who mention ones way out of budget...but Altberg are fantastic (great customer service as well). Pricey, but worth every penny. My current choice for second job.

Agree with replies above re. lightness and composites. Walking for those kinds of distances heavy boots must add wear and tear to the knee and ankle joints.
