Looking for advice here on how to spend 8-10k and not just get a dull practical family car. I need to buy an estate or an SUV shape but I want something with presence and vibe as well as decent fuel economy and not horrifying servicing bills.

The benchmark would be the Volvo V60 2.0L R Design - these tick alot of boxes from what I can tell, obviously its a Volvo so well built but also seems to have good stats all round and the R Design adds just enough level of trim to make it stand out.

In summary I'm after a car not older than 2012, mileage ideally no more than 80K with a sport look and good fuel economy, a high quality cabin and a reliable drive every day vehicle.

I really love the idea of the Alpha Romeo Sportwagen, it has exactly the kind of presence I like with a sport heritage - but is this, or something like this, expensive to keep on the road?

I've seen Porsche Cayenne's for around this price point and they peak my interest, seems you get a lot of car for the money - but of course terrible economy and I suspect you never drive out of a garage without spending half a grand on something, still seems like it might be fun - this is my outlayer example.

I'm not against looking at high mileage cars if you think a well serviced one might offer great value and still be just as reliable, I just want some bang for my buck and a car with a bit of WOW!

Cheers!

If you like the Alfa 159 wagon then get one, the 1.8tbi is the one to go for:

Leftfield Option:

6.2 SRT Jeep Grand Cherokee a more reliable option than the Cayenne at this price point but no less fun
