The daftest thing with this plan is the problem it presents people who top the bath up mid soak. It needs a small amount of really hot water to do this efficiently and that is simply not going to happen with a thermostatic tap. The obvious solution is to dispatch the wife to the kitchen for a kettle of water which is surely going to increase the risk of scalding

Preventable deaths

20 deaths from scalding, All from getting into too hot a bath yeah right. Taking this to it's logical conclusion you won't be able to buy raw rice, just in case young beligerentstupidbollox might tip the pan over themselves

Dissadvantages

1. Not being able to top up the bath with really hot water to enable a small rise in overall temperature
2. Having to pay for a service you don't want
3. Having to pay for an system update you don't want
4. Having to pay for government officials and inspectors you don't want

If you do want to limit the temperature of the water you can, there's usually a big dial on the boiler and/or hot water tank with "temperature" written on in in large friendly letters

A parent putting a baby ito a bath that hot should be locked up for life. What happened to testing it first?

But they're not going far enough... How many people are burned in the kitchen each year? They should make sure kettles and hobs can only boil water to 45C too... and don't get me started on ovens - picking up a hot baking tray doesn't half burn your fingers - a 45C limit on those too please
