I've had a letter come through from Porsche UK about reprogramming the DME 'in order to improve the engine control system in terms of nitrogen oxide emissions in certain circumstances'

My car was delivered in Feb last year. Anyone else had this letter and know much about it.

It's my 3rd Macan Diesel S, and like the others has been utterly fault free and a joy to own. I'm a bit worried this update may strangle things.

I got a similar letter this morning. Coincidentally, I was speaking too my local PC yesterday who mentioned that the DME control unit needed to be re-programmed but they weren't very clear on what effect this might have on performance or economy. I decided to put off the re-programming until the 2 year service is due in May and they were OK with that.

Thanks for the information. I think I'll do the same and wait until its in for a service and have found out a little more about what's involved.
