Combining two existing rings - Wedding and Engagement Ring

Hi guys,
the jeweler we bought our rings from has quite frankly gone downhill in terms of advice and providing a clear cut answer.
As far as I am aware its a 1.5 Carat diamond with a Tulip setting and all in palladium. Her engagement ring is series of diamonds in a platinum band
When i purchased the rings for my wife 10 years ago they seemed much more helpful.
Is it possible to say melt down an engagement ring, remove diamonds and combine it to say a wedding ring to make a new design/setting? So it all sits in one ring?
If not, then thats fine, we can move on and look at other options.
