Hi all, still looking at cars, the C-Class W204 manual estate has caught my eye, but the massive list of " Bad" on Honest John is huge - is this car really this unreliable? Should I avoid this car? If not, which is the most reliable engine, either petrol or diesel?

Many thanks!

Not sure if the car itself suits having a manual, if I remember correctly, you'd have 4 pedals!

We have a 2013 c180, owned it from nearly new. A few niggles under warranty, worst of which was an aircon fault that soaked the interior, carpets out job. It’s always had a minor gearbox niggle when cold but the 7G isn’t unique to the model. It’s never let us down however. The interior is very durable, it’s taken 6 years of daily use and still looks great inside. It’s nippy enough, reasonably economical and won’t have any ULEZ or similar restrictions like the euro5 diesel.

On the manuals the selector mechanism within the box can fail, you loose 2nd and reverse.
