So I posted few weeks back . My bmw had a oil leak got the rocker cover gasket changed used a original part. The car now runs rough not a misfire bit doesn't run as smoothly. Could it be the oil went in to spark plugs and they need changing
How about a bit more info? Which iteration of 3-series? Which engine? Petrol or diesel?Oil wouldn't get into the spark plugs meaning they need changing.
You have likely disturbed something, rather obvious if it was OK before you did a job & afterwards it isn't, that generally means it is something you have done, we have all done it.
You need to back track through everything you have done & be hyper critical.

Mmm this is the last bmw I buy. Well the rough running started after i took it to a garage about the vacum pump he disconnect the phone between the servo and vacum pump and plug it for a sec to make and the brakes were ok. Since then car running rough
So you won't buy another car because a numb nuts mechanic b@llsed it up for you?Very strange.
A better lesson might be not to take it to the same garage.
OK, so we have gone from you fitting a rocker gasket causing it to run badly to you taking it to a garage & did something to do with something to do with vacuum & that made it run badly.
Why don't you start from the very beginning & tell us the full story, then you may get good and meaningful advice the first time round?

I thought we were going to talk about faulty 2BEs? Put a Weber on with a manual choke.
I did that very job over 30 years ago. 1980 518 E12 as well, with the gnarly 90 bhp M10 donk. 2007 320i could be the 'orrible N46 or the really 'orrible N43. On the latter, replacing the cam cover gasket is much more involved as the steel fuel injector pipes have to come off. You're only supposed to use them once but you can get away with twice. Any petrol smells? If it's the older N46 engine (look on the VIN sticker on the drivers door B post) then pull the upper engine cover off (oil filler cap off and then pull it up and off) and have a look. Common f
k-ups are having the rubber gasket seated in an area allowing an air leak (and oil leak) and even dislodging the eccentric shaft pressure spring - the cam cover is tricky to refit. One day, everyone will stop buying these f
king things and they'll all get weighed in! See if you can find out which engine you have? The older N46 went into 57 plate but most 57's are the N43.
