Hi folks

I have started to grow a beard. I am short in stature - only 5 foot 1 inch and started to loose hair from the top of my head.

Can someone kindly recommend any styles of beard that I could adopt together with relevant beard trimmers and oils or balms?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

First rule of beard club is to leave it alone. Let it grow and let it flow. I'd recommend a full beard. Aim for 4-5 buttons down on your shirt smile

For products, I only use Mariner Jack's soap and one of their balms. I have one of each so swap between them.

Just let it grow, it will find it's own style, and trim it when it gets to 5 foot long otherwise you will keep falling over.

And don't be put off by beardist comments.

Today MD told me he knew a good hair dresser who can trim beards and does a special rate for ISIS recruits, charming!

Can anyone recommend a trimmer that goes as high as 20mm cuts?

If you have to ask you shouldn't be allowed one.

I bought this 2 weeks back

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07BHXZLZR/ref...

Having had nothing but issues with my wahl trimmer this is solidly built and no frills. Has a 20mm attachment.

To pull off the big bushy beard look, I really think you need a big pointy hat to balance it out. Preferably in red velvet.

You could also use it when it is long enough for a comb over to hide the head baldness.

Love a nice beard, however not sure about the whole losing hair on top, therefore compensate around the chops!!!

Mate of mine shaves top and chops and looks like a hard barsteward...

As others have said, leave well alone...you'll go through scruffy, itchy, sharp, itchy and soft for a while to come yet.

Also I used to trim around the corners of my mouth, otherwise I'd be tonguing all day long smile

In order to promote its proper growth you should sing “High ho, high ho,” this is particularly effective if you sing on the way to work.

They sing on the way home don't they?

Would your advice risk the beard disappearing back in?
