Multi function steering controls

I have a 2006 Mini Cooper S Works with the multi function steering wheel, which controls the radio & cruise control.
Both the radio and cruise control have suddenly stopped working. I've tried checking the fuses, but if anyone else has had such problems or can recommend anything to look at, it would be much appreciated!

I'd start by removing the steering wheel and column shroud and checking/cleaning the connections
