Is the new model Vantage selling at all?
Discussion
Mulling over a new model Vantage but slightly concerned that they are not selling as well as anticipated
According to a few dealers i have spoken to they seem to have several stock cars that have been sitting for a while......i noticed a similar trend
with the DB11.
Question is when to pull the trigger and what offer would not insult or alienate a dealer .

Why would you be concerned about insulting the dealer with an offer? Are you worried they'll say the offer is so low that you are no longer worthy to buy cars from them in future?
I wouldnt put it past some of them.I have seen 1 new vantage in private use in public, in white, I thought it was an f-type-thingy until I got close enough to read the lettering on the boot.
If I wanted one I would go in low and wait for them to bite. The cars sitting on the forecourt will be costing thousands each month in finance and depreciation.

They're selling fairly well (perhaps not as much as when the last Vantage launched, but by no means a flop) - stock cars are there as much to freshen up the dealership lineup; as nice as it is, the old variant of a car when its ceased production, isn't the one you want to be showing off with your arrangement of 'new' models. Accepted, something like a new, delivery miles Vantage AMR might take pride of place, but the general push is to get some varying spec examples of the new car into dealerships.According to a few dealers i have spoken to they seem to have several stock cars that have been sitting for a while......i noticed a similar trend

The trouble is (and this might cause some upset); PistonHeads isn't perhaps entirely representative of how well overall the new Vantage is selling. While it's not a popular car in the Aston section of PH, that doesn't make it a sales flop. Not many existing PH posters have traded in their old Vantage for a new one (because of the cost, the engine, the gearbox, the grille, the headlights - the list goes on), but Aston was aiming at a wider demographic than the existing (relatively small) pool of owners, therefore it's proved popular among buyers who perhaps wouldn't have been interested in the last gen car. Many buyers are stepping into their first Aston, so the ownership pool is growing.
I'm looking to get a new Vantage either at the end of this year or start of next year. The test drive won me over, I'm just too busy with racing commitments at present to get one sooner.
I've heard of some crazy deals being available (mentioned on PH), but when I've asked it's been nothing of the sort. At present the economic climate is having an effect on sales across makes, so it's just harder for a dealer to shift a £130k+ toy. Now it's true the DB11 suffers some heavy depreciation, and you might find an early V12 being advertised barely above a midlife Vanquish, but it's too early to say if the new Vantage will depreciate in a similar way. Given how Aston's upped its game and is producing objectively judged successful cars, it should strengthen the brand rather than weaken it.
I suppose the key thing is, do you like the car, and do you want to own one - it doesn't really matter what anybody else thinks. If the dealer can come up with something, fantastic - if nothing else, the servicing plans provided are a step in the right direction (mirroring what Ferrari offer).
Two of my friends have them local to me here in the North East.
One is Yellow Tang the other Black. I've been out in one of them and if I'm honest I'm quite tempted. I was not impressed with my AM V8V and had various issues throughout ownership but these are a different league.
I've been monitoring the ones for sale on PH and there does seem to be a few hanging around.

Plus... when I started looking for my first AM some years ago, I had exactly the same impression of the DB9. They seemed too cheap in comparison to the V8. The Rapide even more so. Granted, neither were in their first flush of youth, the depreciation was the same.
Very few marques conquer depreciation and tougher times for “toys” when there’s uncertainty. Looked at the price of nearly new McLarens
and Bentleys?

Firstly thanks to everyone who took the time and effort to reply..........extremely helpful and appreciated
Regarding the alleged discount of £30k..........either that was a super optioned car so there was a lot of movement in price.....the buyer was in the right place at the right time.......or i would take the claim with a pinch of salt.
If i could buy one for £100k/£105k....i would be all over it.

I often wonder how much of a representation our lot on here are of Aston buyers in general?
I won't be buying the new Vantage for two main reasons, one I don't really like the look of it and two, the cost. My 2014 V12VS and maybe another GBP80k! Not a chance.
I was looking at the Pork website the other day. One of their new four wheel drive 911 things can be had for about GBP110k with a few bits and pieces added. Not that I would, but they just seem to be a lot better value than the new Vantage.
Not wishing to be overly critical of AM, just my observations.

.......and have you tried to do just that ? Whilst it seems a stretch, you never know unless you try. I would think Brexit in 5 weeks is weighing heavily on big ticket purchases, so now might just the the time to snap something up whilst there's still huge uncertainty around.comrie said:

Ps. Nice little golf course you have up there.
I’ve owned my new V8V since September - I ordered it just after launch as unlike most on PH I actually like the look of the car (ok the front isn’t perfect but the cars look better in real life than pictures I think).
From the general public I get very good comments and feedback - certainly more than my old shape V12V.
They are a very good car - but it is more a GT car than Sports car, despite it being billed as a sports car.
I’m sure there will be good deals to be had on dealer stock cars and if you like the looks of the car then they are good drivers cars but also work well as a daily driver/GT - they are very comfortable!

I'm in a similar situation - not sure where to go with the brand. I'm on my third ("old") Vantage so feel a fourth would be a bit unimaginative. I like the new Vantage, but can't justify the extra £70k+ to have one. I've vaguely looked at replacing with an AMG GT or 911 (both nearly new for around £75k), or a 2012ish Ferrari California (tho' too bling I think)....... and I want to stay with AM really. Probably means sticking with what I have for now!
I deleted my previous post as after I read it I didn’t really think it helped out the OP at all. Fair to say the majority on here are not huge fans of the new car and will probably wait a while before rethinking. No point opening old wounds on looks etc as it’s unlikely that aspect of it will change. It’s pretty clear that the company strategy is to attract new buyers in markets outside of the U.K. which means not us lot! I still think the car is overpriced and that could be part of the reason why there are so many available. As noted earlier there was a similar thread running a couple of weeks ago. Back to the OP, imho you have nothing to lose by making an offer. Especially as it’s close to the new plate change too. They can only turn you down. Good luck with your search.

Probably no way of knowing, and although a couple of posters have intimated that we are an insignificant group to AML worldwide, there are possibly a few points which can be thought about.
The PH AM 'Owners: Roll Call' list consists of a large number of AM owners. I have not counted, and probably some people listed have moved away to other marques and not deleted their names.
Most of us seem to be UK based. Total UK sales in 2018 were 1455 cars, and the UK still represents the biggest AML market.
Do you remember my topic about repeat AM buyers? It revealed a surprising number of PHers who had bought several Astons, so the loyalty of existing owners, must clearly be an important group to AML.
