Yes, drove tight as a drum. Dry underneath. No suspicious noises or smoke so will have to keep fingers crossed re IMS but will get it done sooner than later. Paid a deposit and it's going into local Indi in Peterborough this week for inspection, subject to that I will buy it and get them to do major service. It needs new AC condensers as look rotten and not working. They were asking £17800 originally but beat them down to £16200 by ripping it apart (squeaky spoiler and sunroof, stuck driver window, slightly hazed headlights all of which they will fix). slight ding in front bumper and same on rear but overall in really nice condition compared to the other similar priced cars I've looked at. Happy to spend out £2k on it if needed will still have a good car.
It's a: 2003/53 Carrera 2 88k miles 4x OPC 5x independent services manuals/wallet and a binder full of MOT's and opc indi invoices going back years. options: M030, 2-way electric sports seats, litronc/headlamp washers, cruise, park assist, sunroof, no PSM which coming out of an Elise chimes well with me!
Love love love the look of it with Bi-colour wheels and red calipers

Been watching this car for three months at the dealer, I rang them two weeks ago to get a sense of their position with it, basically a regular customer px it for an Aston, they said he was meticulous owner who had bought from them before so I concluded it's likely cared for and that after three winter months they were about ready to see it gone! Fortunately it was worth the 3hr drive!

Sound great!! Well done and lets hope the ppi doesn't throw up anythings.
The colour combination really looks great. Do you happen to know what shade of silver this is?
Here's to many miles of happy motoring!

Very well done. Strategy played out nicely! Brace yourself for the PPI - they’re almost certain to find things (that’s what you’re paying for), so be pragmatic about what really matters. Your £2k position suggests you are very realistic
Think long and hard about tearing out a perfectly good IMS bearing though. Prevailing wisdom is tending towards leaving well enough alone: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=108257&sid=cb...
The biggest risk with the 3.6 is bore scoring which the PPI should consider.

Yes agreed....using my layman knowledge I compared warm engine tick over noise to benchmark you tube video and videoed tailpipes with phone on test drive while revving engine (parked up of course!), no smoke and both tailpipes have equal very slight soot within.Think long and hard about tearing out a perfectly good IMS bearing though.
