Hi,

Does anyone know the original price of a 911 SC 3.2 back in 1983.

I know it depends on spec etc, but any guideline on the price?

One friend thinks £20,000 and another is convinced it would have been over £50,000?

Thanks in advance for your help :-)

Literally seconds of research leads me to say 30,000 USD

We also got that result... but they are arguing that they were more expensive in the UK... and one is arguing that $30,000 was £25,000

So... no closer :-)

Sorry, I don’t get what you mean?

What was the original price back then?

Closer to £20k. None of the IB cars were ever £50k list except the Turbos.

I think it was low £20k(ish) - there were two versions, the non-spoilered model and the slightly more expensive SE (with spoilers, fuchs wheels and sports suspension).
Other options were minimal, so made little difference to list prices.

In those days they were only sold in small numbers and there was high inflation, so prices did rise to nearer £40k by the time the final 3.2 Carreras were being sold in 1989.

There’s no such thing as an SC 3.2 and there was no 3.2 in 1983.

I’d guess low-mid-20k, I’ve a vague recollection of 930s being 33k around that time.

An SC Cabrio was 21,549 in ‘83 so 19 or 20
Sounds about right.

964 was circa £41k in 1989 (UK), so would expect the SC was in the 20's in 1983.

EVO states £10,870 for an SC in 1978.

With the 3.2 (916 box) at £22,538 in 1984.

Guess the last 1983 SC's were circa £20k.

I have an original Porsche price list from February 1985. The retail price for a basic Carrera is £25226. With Sport equipment which most went for it is £27078. I would imagine at least 2 price rises since 1983 so low 20s for a basic model.

Even better I have an issue of Motorsport from October 1983 where they test the new Carrera. The price is given as £21464, a rise of £1700 over the outgoing SC. The Sport version is £23366. If you preferred a Ferrari 308 GTB it was £25000!

Autosport road test 14.07.83 of 911SC Cabriolet with Sport Equipment i.e. 16" wheels, rear spoiler etc gives price of cabriolet as £23,549, £1,645 (quoted) more than the similarly equipped coupe (so £21,904).

The standard car i.e. 15" wheels, no spoiler cost £21,549 for the cabriolet.
