LMC is every other (even) year, I travel out of the US and attended all events from 2008. Have always used Just Tickets in the UK for entry, paddock and camping tickets. I meet up with a group of De Tomaso owners and we tour southern France the week before arriving at Le Mans on Thursday. Just Tickets ensures we get a group camping lot allocation all together. We used to camp at Maison Blanche, but since that got reallocated we are across the street in Bleu Nord camping.

Where are you travelling from? Probably has some impact on the travel plans! Camping on site can be a little loud.

When I have been over we have stayed away from the circuit as it get very loud and a bit unruly in the on site camping.

This Chateau campsite is geared up for LM and don't take bookings at that time from anyone who is not there for the racing. the site will be packed with nice cars and the site owner runs a concours de elegance and other events.
Very friendly and English speaking.

If you prefer a little comfort you could try an Airbnb. We used to use an agent to obtain accommodation in Le Mans, but Airbnb seems to have taken over now.
Clean sheets and a good French breakfast. Dinner in a nice restaurant in town and the tram to get you backwards and forwards to the circuit. Usually secure parking for your p&J too.

Booking it direct with ACO by far the cheapest.

Campsites perfectly acceptable and much quieter for Classic.
