Quick single day insurance

Hi guys. A mate of mine's dad is over from Australia, and we would like to go on a ride tomorrow. I've got 2 bikes, and my mate has one. He has managed to get his dad covered on his motorcycle, but his insurance does not cover him on other motorcycles.
I've rung my insurance and because I've got a multi bike policy they need to check with the underwriters and they are not open until Monday. We've tried Bikesure and got a quote to cover my mate for 1 day on my supermoto a handsome sum of £600. Lol - that is more than my annual.
Any suggestions? We just need a single day of 3rd party cover.
Edit: Found some, £48 for the day which is okay. But would still be good to know in future.
