Hi guys, what oil is recomended for top ups, and after how many miles on average would you expect to do so (my last car was quiet frequent, and i always had to carry 1l in the boot).
I take it its easy enough to do ?

Got a notification to check level after a first spirited drive today. Its close to the threshold for a 1L top up on the measurement guage, but i undertand this can be temperamental depending on how you have just driven it. Still, best to just add a 1/3 L and recheck ?

My OPC puts an oil bottle in the boot in a case which has a velcro strip on it so it doesn’t roll around the boot. I assumed this was standard!

Bought used. Looks like the previous owner kept his bottle !

Mobil 1 0 40 is recommended.

Wise idea not to add much at a time it is easy to overfill.

In theory any Porsche A40 approved oil but typically mobil1 0w40 is the usual option.

The check oil message seems crop up on my car at random and is not directly related to low oil level. Since changing the oil at 1000 miles I haven’t had to add any further oil. Now at 7k including 5 track days.

Maybe it drinks a little more in the 1st 1-2k miles. Think mine must be low, as i ran the oil check following the prompt. The difference between max and min is 1L, according to the online manual, so i guess it doesn't take much to trigger

Have a look on the rennlist thread. There is a common failure with the weld on the lower oil collection tank. You can easily identify if you car is loosing oil here by inspecting yourself without a hoist. Porsche are aware of the issue and repacing the tanks under warranty. Seems like a firly common issue for many (regarless of miles and use) and may explain why you are loosing oil. If the tank is leaking the oil collects in the engine tray so not obviously dripping on the ground etc

Cheers, will take a look. Hopefully its just an issue of a top up, as no issues on the 250mile journey north after collecting the car last week, and having only done 30 miles today since, when the check message came up.

Cheers guys. Topped up 500ml and reading is where it should be now. Checked for any leaks as per the the renlist thread - bone dry luckilly. Worth checking as you can just out a phone light up there/take a pic withouht having to remove anything.

I had my first 'check oil level' in my 991.2GT3 on the way to Oulton last Thursday. I enabled the left TFT screen level check which showed it was just above the minimum level..On Friday morning in the pit garage under the close supervision of Digga i poured approx 750ml of Mobil 1 which raised the oil level to nearly the top.
I put a little extra in as i was about to go on track to be on the safe side..My Gt3 has done about 2.5K miles..
