As the title says, I first tried to buy this 7 years ago in 2012.... I has been parked up since then, but now the owner has agreed to sell it. Cannot wait to recommission it and put some miles under its belt..... The last REAL 718 RSK sold for $3,750,000 in 2018

Unfortunately just a 1600cc unit from a beetle, not even seen it yet to be honest! But it was a freshly built unit with tuning about 11 years ago as far as I know, and as stated it has been parked up for 8 years at least so I doubt it has done many miles...
I am sure I can give it more power, my '74 Bay camper has 120bhp, and real RSKs had 142bhp.
Can you see what I am thinking......

Looks really cool. What's the history on this. The original was based on a 356 how much different is the chassis compared to the beetle.

Not going to lie, I know very little aboit it other than it is had a new engine, retrim and was parked up years ago!!

Trying to find out a little history.

The chassis is a beetle chassis, shortened by around 12". The previiys owned refurbished the front beam and repainted the entire chassis black. It all looked solid still to me. If anyone has any info on GP Spyders it would be much appreciated!!

Hi there,

I am the proud owner of a GP Spyder. I didn't build it - I bought it off a guy up in Blackpool (UK) for £4000 about 20 years ago. It used to be metallic navy blue, but about 10 years ago, some kids broke into a garage I had been renting and went to town on my car - scratching the paintwork, removing the tires and steering wheel, and smashing up the dashboard and instruments (the police let them off, by the way with a warning!). I had it rebuilt by a friend of mine, and chose to have it resprayed in the traditional silver colour.

Unfortunately, I have done very little driving in it. I had a problem with the dynamo, resulting in the car breaking down a lot. This has now been fixed, and I am just trying to coax the engine (beetle 1600) to start again.

My knowledge of GP Spyders is pretty limited - I did drive over to see GP to get a few mods done when I first bought it). I have met a very knowledgeable guy though, who has an excellent example, and built his, so if you would like to connect with him, ping me a message.

Here is a picture of my GP

Looks the business, bet it's a nippy bugger with the power to weight ratio even with a 1600cc engine.

At least it's back looking it's best after some wee hits trashed it although "the police let them off, by the way with a warning!" just about sums up todays society. I reckon it should be up to the parents not insurers to repay for damage caused by their offspring.
