Which one do you prefer? Sorry if it’s been asked before but I tried them both on for size today and can’t make up my mind. This will be my first big watch purchase, never had anything more than a rotary before.

I prefer the look of the FOIS but it was always the moonwatch that got me interested in owning an omega.

First one in space:
-Nicer looking watch face in my opinion, I like the hands more and the omega logo
-Numbered edition so does it have more potential as an investment?
-No metal bracelet and they’re a lot more expensive to buy than a leather strap is however the leather is beautiful
-Sapphire screen might not sit well with purists but I prefer the less domed shape

Moonwatch:
-It’s a moonwatch and the history is the main attraction, but nothing special so not an investment piece
-Hesalite worries me as being more delicate
-metal bracelet and nato strap included as well as the other extras in the box
-I’d still buy and wear it with a leather strap

I’ve not seen the FOIS in real life but also like it. That said the Moonwatch is THE Moonwatch.

Your pics have me doubting which one I want as well now. Another difference is the lugs.

FOIS is lovely to look at the picture does it no justice. The lugs and bezel difference made it feel less chunky

To live with it has to be the Moonwatch.
Much nicer dial in my view (but I'd remove the bracelet and replace with leather or a GasGasBones strap.

As an 'investment' the FOIS.

Think there’s over 11000 of them out there tough.

Spent some time comparing them both and the Moonwatch edges it for me due to the hour and minute hands.

I've been thinking along the same lines, I think I will be going for the Moonwatch, I think you can get it for £3050 if you shop round.

But then I see the Seamaster...

That’s my thinking, neither are particularly great ‘investments’ which is a good thing, it’s not the reason I want one and I wouldn’t want to be worried about wearing it, however it is nice to know if I needed to sell I’d get most of my money back

Yeah I have seen a moonwatch for £3050 or a FOIS for £2895 so there’s not a lot in it

I’m thinking the moonwatch with a leather strap is the way to go

Prefer the FOIS personally.... given it is based on an earlier speedy variant that went to space, it is just as 'authentic' as the regular moonwatch.

Putting a sapphire crystal on it was a mistake though- should have been hesalite.

Speak to Dom Hackett, I think he'll better those prices, certainly on the moonwatch thumbup

Recently went through a similar thought process and ended up getting a great deal on a used mint Speedy Pro. 1 year old with the huge presentation box and all the goodies, plus it was delivered on a dark brown vintage leather strap. Looks awesome (in my opinion).

I do like the hour and minute and second sub-dial hands on the FOIS and the applied Omega motif - but the Hesalite Pro along with the presentation box and book about the lunar landing swung it.

Those are the prices as shown on his site:

https://www.hackettwatches.com/hw/items/brand?open...

No idea how quickly he can source them or how many he stocks. The planets may be aligning for me soon and have sent a few emails to him myself.

Moonwatch

- Hesalite is part of its charm, has a "softer" look than sapphire without the white looking rim
- More iconic / historic
- comes with bracelet
- easier to find 2nd hand

Get a nice box - either the small wooden of the full size one with the goodies

Avoid the red boxes they are trash and will fall apart just being gazed at

I have one in a red box that is pretty much perfect for sale, you don't wear the box after all ! Mine is on the bracelet which I believe is the right way to go as the bracelet is really expensive to buy if you don't get it with the watch and the strap is an easy addition, I bought my Planet Ocean on the bracelet but had it swapped for a strap before it had been worn! Still I have it safe for the future

It is a stunning watch that would keep but I am too worried about damaging it and I always grab my Planet Ocean when I am in a rush or my ltd edition RNLI Breitling if I am doing work for them so it gets little wrist time.

Yeah cheers it was Dom’s website I got the numbers from. I know he has a good rep on here, has anyone dealt with him before? I wonder how the warranty works when buying from him.
