Hi,

Can anyone explain this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynxR2odXm_g

I've so far tried replacing gearbox mounts and the gearbox itself. The centre bearings look really good and the above only happens under load in the lower gears. What else can it be?

Really getting annoyed with the above as I can't find the cause!

Prop shaft guibo, badly buckled rear wheel, rear sub-frame mounting.

The flex disc was checked as well when swapped to new gearbox. Can't see it being the wheels since its only shaking under load but then stops whilst still in gear.

Giubo, NOT guibo. FFS, can’t people get this?

It might of just been a typo. I'm going to try the engine mounts next to see if this cures the issue.

You need to run the car and take a look under. To me that looks like the gear linkage is making contact with the guibo. Check Linkage assembled and conected correctly. Check centre prop bearing and surport aligned and correct way up. I fitted a brand new cheapo Gubio that did the same after only a month. replaced with old one and all is well.

Dom

So you changed the original Gubio for a new Giubio and then put the original Gibuo back?

Mechanic said centre bearings looked like new. Will try the coupler/guibo next. Is it worth looking at engine mounts too?

The guibo is 50p shape, in the video you can hear that the high points are catching the gear selector mechanism and as the revs rise the vibration increases. Question is why is the Guibo coming into contact. is it the correct one? fitted the correct way round?
or Is the selector fitted correctly or damaged in some way.?
I doubt new engine mounts will make any diffrent but won’t make it worse but your mechanic should be able to diagnose the fault with the car running on the ramps.

Hi forgot to mention it only does that knock in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears and more noticable under load such as acelerating on a slip road. Do you think it might be gear linkage/connector bushes?

Yes 3rd gear will be worst as the selector is closest to the guibo, 5th or 4th will be ok .

Just as a test this morning when it was knocking in 1st, I leaned the gearstick towards the driver and it wasn't knocking around like the video but you could feel it coming up the linkage. In 2nd if I lean it towards passenger it knocks about like it does in 1st. Starting to think i need a new flex disc/giubo.

Probably easiest to start at the problem and work backwards.

Are the gear linkage bushes knackered?
