castrol edge prices!
Discussion
wow scanning the net for oil prices and you can now get 4L of Castrol edge 5w 30 for £28, that's come down lots, I bet the main dealers are still charging 70 quid for it though. I might treat my car to an oil change for the sake of it, only done it 6 4000 miles ago, but can afford it at those prices :-)

...but 4 litres is no good to you! For most engines you will need at least 5 litres so you have to buy 2 x 4 litres at £28 each or 4 litres plus a one litre bottle at about £16. If you are buying online you may also need to add postage.Quantum also do a LL oil that is compliant with BMW LL-04, and can be had on ebay from reputable sources for decent prices

I know, it's 6.5L for my car I'm just saying it's cheaper, supermarkets generally do offers on the smaller sizes from time to time, 4L used to be a struggle to get for less than 35 quid not so long backYes I know Tesco, Quantum, Amazon et al don't make engine oil, and yes I know that you are finding examples of these which meet BMW standard LL04, but not all LL04 oils were created equal and a decent oil will exceed LL04 standards while meeting or exceeding a plethora of other manufacturers standards... As with everything, you get what you pay for (within limits).
The Opie Oils thread is great for recommendations.
My BMW is a worthless old s
tter but even so I think the £10 difference between the minimum standard LL certified oil and something good (Mobil Super at the moment) is money well spent...

Euro Car Parts with code + click & collect, Car Parts 4 Less with code and free delivery, Opie Oils via eBay often free delivery...Cheapest of all for me recently has been Halfords believe it or not, they do a sale occasionally- trade card plus the employee discount scheme from my employers achieves a similar effect. I always get 6L of Mobil Super or Shell Helix Ultra for less than £30.
P.S. It's super easy to blag a Halfords Trade card and oil is at least 20% off IIRC
ETA: It helps that the Mobil and Castrol comes in a 5l bottle so it's just a 5+1
I get your point re oil quality, however I’m not recommending low quality oil.
Quantum is made my Fuchs, factory fill for VAG vehicles. Quantum Longlife 3 is also VW507. My current 20l container is Elf, again high quality-exceeding LL04 as it meets VW 507 which is a higher spec than LL04.
The cost per litre is cheaper if you buy in bulk. It soon goes, my current car is 6.75l per oil change, 2nd car 4l per change.
