The Triumph will be the best bike to ride of those two but it will cost more to run and I doubt it will be as reliable as the Suzuki.

I actually sold a 765 Street to get one of the new SV650 models and a few hundred miles in am still happy with my decision.

The new model can be had for under £4k now with not too many miles on. I did an 80 mile m-way journey the other day as fast as speed limits and traffic would allow and was perfectly comfortable - over 70 mpg doing that too.

I mainly have it for the odd back road blast and its great for that too.

Picture the scene.... your sat at a bar, a young lady also looking to wet her whistle sits beside you and asks if you'd like a drink. You strike up conversation about this and that, thinking your on to a winner here, you decide to make yourself a bit more sexy and appealing. To seal the deal you ask her if she's into motorbikes....She is, result....You mention you ride a Gladius...oh dear....It's hardly a fanny magnet is it, and whilst yes it is potentially a good bike, economical and a good all rounder, the fact its named after a gay Japanese sword and instantly its named the Gaydius by your mates puts me right of the fking thing.
You'd be forever saying...... its just a sv-650 though.

A Japanese sword? Are you thinking of the Katana? hehe

The correct answer in this case is neither Street nor Gladius, it is surely the Speed Triple that is the right pick.

Never mind the bloody Romans, look at what the Scots have achieved!

Television, telephone, radar (by the same guy who invented the bloody TV too!), antibiotics, anaesthetics, mri scanners, ultrasound scanners, pneumatic tyres, proper bloody roads, propellors on boats, aircraft design, etc etc!

And yeah, the Triumph is a much nicer bike, but a bit too focused for a new rider (in my opinion).

I'm still a big fan of things like Bandits, Fazers, SV's and ER's for new riders (having previously been an insructor for ten years) but all the supersonic speed-demon "real-men" on here won't agree.

hehe
