I'd probably go with a Ford Focus, in your position. Doesn't sound like you're ready for an MX5.

Size of company?

Public or Private?

Do you have an email from your boss to forward on to payroll, thereby giving them a kicking and keeping your boss on side?

Having been there my tips would be:

1. Get something in writing from your boss, explain to your boss you think payroll are useless and are they happy for you to chase them.

2. Chase payroll whilst keeping boss on side

3. Copying in head of payroll.

Don't upset boss!

Is £900 worth your job \ endless grief

Clearly someone's not done what they should, find the weak link and then push it....

Might be your boss, so asking to chow at payroll might get them going....

It depends on how important your relationship is with the company. Do they have a grievance procedure?

He's been there 21 years! This seems a super-random issue to be experiencing now.

My curiosity wants to know: Is this the first time that he has ever received payment for overtime? Have none of his colleagues ever received an overtime payment?

Another option would be to nick £900-worth of furniture & equipment and sell it on Ebay?
