Any 640i Gran Coupe owners/opinions?

Hi all,

S5 coupe goes back in 27 days - still not sorted the new wheels, although have narrowed down my list, largely due to help from folk on here. THINK I'm pretty settled on one of;

435i/440i Gran Coupe
S4 Avant

Will be buying used, max (stretched) budget of circa £25k....

Getting to see an example of a car I like in person is proving impossible, so looking like I will need to be pretty much set on a car before making a long journey to pick up.

A few on here have mentioned 640 GC's as alternative to the 435/440 - anyone have any real life experience of one? How do you find them in terms of driving, running, reliability?

I am looking EVERY day at new listings, keep going back to this one... any thoughts?

6 Series GC every day of the week as impossible to get more car for your money IMHO.

I'd be looking for a car with the M-Plus package (HUD, HK Audio etc.), digital cockpit and if possible adaptive dampers.

Unfortunately the vast majority of 6 GC's are 640d as you'll have noticed I'm sure so going the petrol route will severely limit your choice.

And the big one would be buying from BMW approved. I'd not take one on at 4-5 years old without a proper warranty that I can extend year on year..

Would love a 6GC but they are very long and despite having a good sized garage it would never fit so I've had to discount them. But I agree that it's a much nicer place to sit. Friend has one, albeit diesel, prefers it to his previous 520d but not his 530d GT surprisingly.

Re S4 Avant there's one on AT at the moment with half black/half brown seats. It's a great spec and has the right alloys (can't stand those 5 spoke ones) but the interior could be "challenging". Maybe it would be better in the flesh?

The GC is ok but i'd take a 435i GC every time, the 6GC is huge and feels it.
