Car passed its MOT yesterday and now there's a knocking noise when steering right. I'm going to phone the garage but time now its going to be difficult to get the car back in. I'm just curious how is it even possible? I thought they pretty weren't meant to remove/touch pretty much nothing. I did ask them to change my brakepads but they didn't remove them and said I still have half left from what they can see looking through so it can't be the wheel.

Any idea what it could be or how they could have caused it

It could be something as simple as the car being hoisted in the air, the action of the suspension dropping to full extension knocked something a bit loose. They probably should have picked up on that.

CV joint? Is it front wheel drive?

What sort of knock? When pulling away on full lock or near enough?

Shaker plates will shake stuff but nothing beyond the traction of your tyres, so if anything did go pop it was about to do so anyway.

The classic it was fine before it went in although in your case it was only yesterday and should of been picked up on for a MOT but seen so many people coming back to some of my friends and family’s garages after weeks and even months later saying somethings wrong it was fine before you did work on it. As mentioned could of been through just being jacked up and maybe already on it’s way out just coincidence it’s happened after visiting a garage. Sounds like it could be a top mount?
