Do road repair contractors have a camera function on their traffic lights 'cos I was last in a queue going through the works & light went red too late for me to stop - I went through on red - just. Totally my fault.

Yes they (often) do, but only to detect if a car is waiting or approaching, not (usually) for fining people.

:-)

There would be a camera warning sign (you have to).

Contractors don't give a monkey about red light jumping. Roadwork lights usually have a sensor, to know when to change when its quiet.

Living in the sticks I've driven through plenty of red roadwork lights at night.

Why would you deliberately drive through a red light? Some 1 year olds even know red does not equal go.

Most one year olds have learned that you don't have to obey all the rules all the time.

I have done the same. You can often see the other end of the lane closure and much further on. If you're sure nothing's coming, why not?

Exactly. Devon lane at night. 200 yard lights. Not a car in sight for literally miles. You go. If you don't , the line of cars behind goes round you.

( Was waiting for that. Predictable on here)

You want to enlighten me, or just be a smart arse?

A quick Google shows govt guidelines are for cameras to be florescent yellow with warning signs. I've not seen stealth cameras anywhere in Somerset /Devon.

There are no statutory requirements for enforcement cameras to be visible, to be painted a certain colour, or for their presence to be advertised via signage..

In answer to your question, instead of all the other willy waving going on completly off topic - Its not something I have ever known about.

Some are set as timed by the operator when they are set up, others use a movement sensor that looks like a camera sat on the top.
