...why I've dropped off the radar...

A few reasons really; I've started the new job*, so I've been finding my feet to a large extent. And when it's busy, it's busy. My rostered shifts are 8am-4pm. Last weekend I worked from 7am-10pm on the Saturday, and 8am-7pm on the Sunday. It seemed like a treat to finish on time yesterday!

I also have an exam to study for (for the other BiB on here, it's a lot like OSPRE part 1).

And following on from my "apology" thread, I was in a spot of (justified) bother at work over some of my postings, so I've decided to post less of my own opinion, that could be mistakenly construed for official policy and procedure.

I do still keep a "weather eye" on SPL and P&P, and will no doubt pop up from time to time.

*I now work in a prisoner handling team, and help deal with the prisoners who have come into custody overnight, who either weren't fit to be dealt with, or the enquiries need sorting the next day (extra statements, calls to banks, that kind of thing).

Not at all!! Applied for CID last August, passed the papersift and interview. Been put in this role to get me some experience with interviewing/investigation on the "criminal" side of things (as opposed to traffic offences).

Ach Liebchen - you are now a sleuth! Ist Sherlocks or Mein lieber Watson - perhaps I am the Wild Professor Moriarty - as far as scams are concerned ....

Have started to get back to my work after kitten. Ist nice to get back to normal ... but bit strange to have to set off so early again.

Those LanCASH£££Re Stasis They know ist flawed procedure to invite just overs to course und fine the medium overs - und they are still inviting the wrong type to the course. If they taught the more dangerous und were less silly - perhaps they'd make in-roads.... ist hard truths they cannot face - nicht?

Und in any case - you only said what we already know because our own eyes see less BiB und more scams....

But ist silly that you are not allowed opinion. Thought police... ist just what the Stasis did und I saw this for myself in Leipzig before the wall came down.

Hope you make it to toppest sleuthing levels -

I second that Dibble, it's just not right that you can't express your own opinion anonymously, after all, we don't know your identity and wouldn't presume to ask. Bloody dictators.

Good to hear from you nevertheless, pity you didn't manage to throw that big switch on those Gatsos before you left.

Dibble, do you have to declare involvement in forums like this to your boss? Apologies if it's a stooopid question, but obviously I don't know.

Good luck with the new role!

Are you the sort of person that would be managing the scenario I saw the other morning?

Two bikes, a senator all lights ablaze, two of those 7.5 tonne prisoner transport wagons another senator and a range rover

They must have been very late for court that day...

They lurk everywhere.... ist a Stasi tactic

But seriously - this raises some questions if a policeman ist not allowed to voice his concerns in something which affects us all. Ist bad that they reduce BiB presence und replace with these scams - and convince themeselves that it ist correct procedure. Und it must be why they are always best thing since proverbial sliced bread - until they retire und dann say what they really think.

Ist not exactly for the common good - und opinions from the very elusive chaps actually policing the road should be listened to - since they are the ones seeing the real driving und the effects of the numpty who never speeds - but ist more lethal in real life.

I must say Dibs, that anyone on the Police who could seriously object to your postings - which I find eminently reasonable and fair, even if I don't always agree with you, has a serious case of media control freakery.

Second this....all Dibbles's posts have been fair minded. But then - read about these targets for the Manchester BiBs and read about the brownie points for the TVP lot...

Seems a policman's lot is not that happy a lot - really ...

Wish you all the very best - Dibs! Happy sleuthing!

Without going in to the ins and outs of what I said, on reflection, I should have bitten my tongue. The offending thread has already been deleted by Ted, and it caused him some unnecessary grief as well.

If I had wanted to, I could have remained "more" anonymous than I chose to, so I've only myself to blame.

As a serving Police Officer, I am entitled to my own opinion, but sometimes it is wiser not to voice it, in case it is either misconstrued, or seen as official policy.

We (BiB) are subject to a number of strictures, both on and off duty. We have to declare "business interests", have approval for where we live, and can't be active in politics.

If found guilty of certain offences - either at Court or in a discipline tribunal - we face the sack; the same would not always be true in other walks of life.

There are also a number of proscribed organisations that we can't belong to (the most recent of these, from memory, being the National Front, Combat 18 and the BNP). Obviously, I need someone to tell me that I'm not allowed to particpate in these "groups" activities, just in case I was ever tempted.

I missed whatever it was anyway - Dibbles, mein Liebster

Whatever it was must have riled you very much as you are always a voice of common sense here.

My cousin ist controlled - I think - on Paul's site too - more or less.

He said on there und to us - ist drummed into him from starting out that members of public will judge him by what he ist seen to do - und his behaviour on/off duty. But he ist allowed to think .... just.... Und we make him think too

Ist like Mad Doc - he has to declare he ist married to toppest scientist who designs und researches drugs for living...."in case his prescriptions are biased to certain products" - which ist load of cobblers as he will prescribe what suits patient und cures patient. But ist these daft managers

Can see why they would not wish you to live next door to Mr Big... und they may also have thing about committed petrolheads too

Und not be active in politics? Pity this does not apply to that weird one in Wales.

Speaking of politics - und off on a tangent - Tone's immediate future as PM ist in jeopardy as he has just been treated in hospital for slipping a disc. had he not heard of annadin (for his PMT (Prime Minister Trubbles) und hard board for his back?

Ist great pity that we cannot sack a PM for being a muppet und puppet..... und Dead Ringers' skit on Galloway was priceless

USA Official: have ya ever belonged to an oppressive und totalitarian party

Galloway: Yes Sir ... But the Labour Party chucked me out...

(off on tangent mode off )

Und - teacher can be sacked for offences - like the poor frustrated teacher in Urmston who lost patience mit the yobs... und ist great pity thos GMP BiB did not turn up - und am azazed they did not considering they face sack for not arresting people. Perhaps this ist why Todd has lost patience.... und introduced this target...

Und not sure what happens if child fails exams....which ist why they are now unfailable... - probably ...

Und Mad Doc und ich ... there are some things we are not allowed to disclose work wise...und we can both be sacked for some criminal und professional offences too - as can lawyers und accountants...

Professional bodies form the disciplinary committees und we have to answer to these if we do something wrong.

But doctors, nurses, BiB, teachers, lawyers und "toppest" scientist whose jobs affect health und liberty are in tougher discipline than other jobs maybe - which depend on personnel policy und ethos of the commercial business.

But surely their screening procedures would alert... but then there was that documentary on the telly.
