Just thinking about my early cars and then my beloved Moped I had in the 70s

What did you have ?

FS1E, Suzuki, Honda, KTM, Gilera ?

I had s Fantic Caballero, 6 speed, 9.5 HP @ 10,000 rpm. It was a rocket ship.

Those where the days !!

Fantic T1 in green. Fast for a moped but fragile and temperamental. In hindsight perhaps should have gone for the Yamaha FS1e option.

My parents wouldn't let me have one. frown

(I continued the family tradition by preventing my kids having one as well! smile )

No regrets on either count now.

I had a blessed youth . Raleigh Chopper when a kid, Malaguti Olympique @16 in 1977. Had been well thrashed, not the most reliable beast.
Drive a Skoda now, not sure where it went wrong smile

FS1E in purple, with a Micron and K&N, maxxed out at 56 mph, then went on to an ER50 with a big bore kit and managed 58 mph lying on the tank (tanking it lol).

My mate inherited a "Suzuki love" from his sister, complete with flower stickers and pink reflective strips, but it was uber cool as it had an electric start, so we forgave him for that.

Best of all was an AR50 moped which one of the cooler kids had, it looked the bks plus he had a mullet which went past the bottom of his Lazer crash helmet. He got all the girls, as expected sporting the hairstyle of the Gods.

Had a fs1e which would slow down when warm.
Whipped out piston and found a crack in the crown.
Measured the piston and it was the full 60cc
Rebuilt and had a rocket

Until it blew up

Red AP50. A fast one too.

The kick start was welded at 90 degrees, so I never had a chance to try the pedals out.

I bought a 250 ready for my 17th birthday, and sold the AP locally, only for the new owner to kill it within a couple of weeks, and I never saw it again.

Early 1990's and a Suzuki ZR50. Looked like a proper bike, went like a moped. Hours of fun of racing though. Slipstreaming, lying on the tank trying to get just one more Mph out of it...

Simson S51.

3 inches chopped off the downpipe. Bodged a micron on there. The match of most. Apart from the big bore kits.

Was that street bike or trial bike?

One of my classmates had the trial bike version so he got to ride that on wednesdays when our motor engineering class went off to the local college in the mini bus. The mini bus had to keep to 30mph so he could keep up!
