I’d stick some racing fluid in, use your existing pads up and throw on a set of RS29 on the front when the old ones wear out. Wouldn’t touch the tears.
That’s all you need to do. Remember to put the odd big stop in to clean off the surfaces occasionally. It stops the pads from squealing

I suspect with the newer and newer models the rear brakes are used extensively (especially if the electronics are left on when on circuit). Even with the 997 PCCB and steel cars seen many examples with higher worn rear discs or heat damaged rear pads/calipers. That’s all you need to do. I tend to switch off aids on circuit for mainly personal preference but also to reduce load on rear brakes.
