Streaming issues on Samsung TV
Discussion
As the title, have a Samsung TV, it's around 18 months old. Wasn't the top of the range when we bought it but not cheap either.
When using iPlayer through the built-in menu, it pauses/freezes frequently and often throws up an error message - "check your connection" or "programme not available" etc.
When using Netflix, the show also pauses and we get the "loading" circle on the screen. Often it stops on 24% and goes no further.
Internet connection not at fault as both apps work well on other devices. Can only think its the TV.
Anyone experienced similar?

I have the same issue with my Samsung tv, it seems to happen every so often and then be fault free for a while. I have tried wireless and wired connections, with different routers etc.
I found that when the connection drops, if i check the network status it shows that although connected to a network it has no internet access. Trying to reconnect fails so a quick turn off and back on again solves it.
Saw that this seemed to be a common problem with samsung tvs so just accepted it. It's a pain when it happens though.

When watching You Tube content through Google on my Samsung smart TV, I cannot view any live streaming - although non-live content works fine.
I can watch live You Tube through the special You Tube app with no issues - although I find navigating through the TV version of You Tube much clunkier than the Internet version so I prefer to use Internet You Tube whenever possible.
The TV is about five years old and works fine with all the other apps with no buffering issues etc.

A lot of issues, where performance was previously OK but degrades over time, stems from the TV manufacturer failing to update the firmware on the TV to support changes to the streaming services. Our plasma Panasonic lost the iplayer, Skype, youtube apps within 2 years as well as others - some down to agreements ending, others down to the failure to keep up with changes to the apps made by the hosting outfit.
We had alternatives to stream the same content, but it did annoy me when the TV purchase was still fresh that it didn't do some of the things we bought it for.

My 4 year old Sony is fine on Amazon player, but regularly does the ‘stuck on 24%’ on Netflix. Powering off and back on is the only resolution. Running an Ethernet cable is going to be a pain so think I’m going to try some powerline connections - can anyone recommend?
I've used powerline adaptors ever since we bought our plasma screen - I have Devolo, with one connection at the router end and x3 at the TV end, which is now not enough for the number of devices! Another option is a single port powerline adaptor and a network switch. Be aware the newer 'square shouldered' Devolo devices for the UK market don't take a UK plug properly on the pass-through socket (these are the ones designed to not use up a power socket). There's loads of options, but don't bother with the wifi extending ones unless you actually need itMine are only 200Mbps but they've proved fine for high quality streaming.
