I have a Seat Leon, and I have a couple of niggly problems with it.

The Leon has an aftermarket parking sensors kit installed. When i start the car (in any gear), the sensor will do 4 beeps. Then when I go into reverse gear, itll beep, then when i start to reverse it will do another beep then die away. I have noticed my reverse bulb is out, could this have an effect?

Furthermore, my cruise control just doesnt work, I am not sure why at all.

Could these problems be linked?

First things first, you need to check whether you have power at the reversing light bulb holder ie is a blown fuse, or a blown bulb ?

If you get that sorted, it may be the reversing sensors start to work again.

Check your fuse diagram, would be a good starting point.

If they're on the same fuse, it could very well be linked. wink

Could possibly be the reverse light switch which is playing up , if a new bulb fails to cure the problem check that power to the bulb holder/ sensors is present , in the past I have known the reverse light switches to give a circuit when reverse is selected but when the gear lever is released the contact is no longer present.

Presumably it is trying to tell you something. If you can find the make and model, you may be able to work out what the beeps mean.

So I changed the bulb and to no avail. Think I am going to look into the reverse switch next, slightly confusing as the parking sensors seem to know when the car is in reverse (even if they do die away)

To check whether the switch is the problem is really easy , the switch is located on the gearbox
casing , unplug the connector from the switch body and short the two wires together , if the fault disappears then the switch is kn*****ed and will need to be replaced .
You could also check if there is a feed to one side of the connector.
If you put the car in reverse you could also check the switch is working.
Remember to have the ignition on the first click otherwise there will be no power to the system !
